Mac vs. PC
Now that I have a new job and an income I have begun thinking about replacing my PC. There have been a few major issues with this system since I built it and I'm really starting to get tired of messing around with it. This brings up some questions I have to consider though. Will the new computer be a PC or a Mac?
I am starting to really lean towards getting a G5. They look really sweet and OS X is super reliable. That's been my major complaint with my current system, it has had way too many system problems caused by Windows and I'm really getting tired of reformatting. The problems I for see is just in usage and a mental shift to the Mac environment. I have been using Windows for a long time and the shift will be something that takes time to get used to. My biggest concern has to do with my current files and such. I have a lot of mp3s and image files that I don't want to lose but I'm not sure how best to migrate from Windows to OS X. Ideally I'd like to get my new G5, pull the 200 gig from MercX, install it in the G5 and then sell the PC. I still have the laptop for a Windows as needed.
Then I start to think of all the software I have for windows, all my games and other applications, and I think maybe I should just get a new PC. Or keep MercX and set it up as a file server/windows box that I can use when I feel like playing some of the older games and what not. I played with a G5 today and it was sweet. I don't know, anyone have any advice?
Oh and Merc: Nope, never been to New York but hope to get there someday, maybe even this summer? Not sure if that will work out.
