It's Over!

Well the big day has now come and gone. That's right, the tryout is now officially over. Whatever happens from this point on is simply a matter of waiting. There were a lot of guys there tonight and they even talked about the possibility of forming another team from the people there. I really hope I make it on a team.

In two weeks, on the 22nd, there will be a draft. The draft is at 4:00PM at the Past-Time pub and I am planning on going.

So the recap: Everyone was given a number to wear, I was 26. We started doing infield grounders and that wasn't too bad. I was able to get on most of the balls but my throw was a little off. I'm not sure why but I kept throwing a little short. I think it might be that I was thinking too much about not throwing too far that I actually threw too short. Overall it wasn't that bad. Then we did outfield and that went really well. I'm glad we did outfield lessons at ST because that helped out a lot. I have to remember to let my instructor know

After that they did pitching and catching while we stood around and waited for hitting. For the hitting they used the machines, one which was an iron mike with a digitized pitcher and one that was a Jugs machine. I was on the jugs machine cage. We had to do two bunts and then eight hits. On the first bunt attempt the ball slammed into the top of my thumb and everything after that is kinda of hazy. I know I hit a few pretty well and my mind wasn't worrying about hitting any more. So I guess that wasn't such a bad thing to happen. Instead of worrying about what I'm doing right or wrong, I just swung best I could to get done fastest.

After that we went to Applebee's for dinner and it was good.

Now I'm pretty tired and will go to bed soon. I have to do laundry and stuff tomorrow, nothing too exciting.

Later kids!

Hello People!

Well yesterday was pretty much a blur for me. I woke up, realized I wasn't well enough for work and slept on and off most of the day. I was able to watch some DVDs while in bed, so that was nice. I like having a laptop with a DVD drive. Not sure what I had but it seemed to hit me starting Tuesday and subsided around noon today. It was some kind of upper respiratory ailment but I feel 1,000x better now.

I wasn't going to go to my lesson tonight, but I changed my mind this afternoon. I really want to get in there before tomorrow. For those who are keeping track at home, tomorrow is the big tryout. Big, scary, tryout. Heh. It won't be that bad as I just plan to go there, do my best and let what happens, happen.

So I caught the end of Dr. Phil today and he was talking about fears and phobias. He said that all phobias really boil down to a fear of being out of control. He also made some claim that any phobia could be overcome in 12 hours. Interesting.

So that brings me to the topic of the day, fears.

My Odd Fears (in no particular order):

- On-ramps - Yes, I am afraid of on-ramps such as those to get on the interstate. I'm not sure why, but I am deadly afraid of driving on or riding on an on-ramp. I even have to close my eyes when I'm the passenger in the car. I have to overcome this fear, I realize, but I'm not sure how.
- People in Monkey/Ape suits - This is just wrong. No need to get over this fear, because people should not dress up as monkeys or apes. Wrong.
- Chili in a Tube - Ok, I'm not really afraid of this, I just think it's weird.

That's all I can think of right now, but I'm sure there are more. I am crazy after all.

Home

I went to my lesson tonight. Did hitting. Did fielding stuff. Learned some stuff.

Came home and helped another neighbor get their car unstuck. Tired.

Blog losing interesting entries.

Make better... later. Promise.

Still No Lesson

Lesson got moved to tomorrow at 7:30 because my instructor is sick. Poor guy. Oh well, not anything I can do about it, plus it'll be a nice night to just lay around and not do much.

I ordered a pizza and I'm just waiting for it's arrival.

I helped someone dig their car out earlier after I got home from work. She was stuck in the parking lot across the alley from my apartment building so we worked and got her dug out. It feels good to help people.

Now I have this strange cough coming on that I am going to treat as nothing but dry air or something equally unimportant. I don't do sick anymore.

No Lesson

Well my lesson was cancelled for tonight, but at least this time they called me to reschedule. I'm going tomorrow at 6:30 so it's no big deal, plus it gives me more time to practice.

Work is going fine and it's just that, work. Not much really all that interesting and I've decided that when I'm not at work I shouldn't be allowed to think about work. Work time is for working, home time is for whatever else I want to do.

That is all from me.

Happy Groundhog's Day!

Snow Plow!

I should buy me a snow plow and plow my way to happiness! (*shrug* I have no idea what that means)

It snowed yesterday and last night but not enough to close down the higher educational institutions. That's ok though, I suppose. I hope this means that I can still get to my lesson tonight as I really don't want to miss it. So they better suck it up and come in. If I have to go to work then so should they. The tryout is on Saturday and I need these last two lessons this week. I think things will be different once Saturday is over. Just not sure in what way. Then it's a month of waiting to see what happens. I hate waiting. Oh well.

I better go get the car ready and get out of here. I have no leave time so my option for today is go in or don't get paid. I'd rather get paid, given the choice.

Good luck everyone!

The Taxman... ooo.. The Taxman

I forgot about tax returns, good old tax returns. I had nothing better to do tonight, so I filed my federal tax returns. If you make under, like $30,000, you can e-file for free so that's what I did. I did that last year and it worked out fine. Plus if you use direct deposit, you get your return pretty quickly.

Ok, so this entry isn't interesting at all.. so I'm gonna stop.

There was freezing rain/fog tonight and it's supposed to snow again. The predictions on snow are still varied but I really hope it holds off until after the superbowl. I have a party to attend and I don't want to be stuck at home because of the weather. I do love a good party.

Well now I'm more tired than I have been in a long time, along with up later than I have been in awhile. So I'm off to bed. Night all!
