Tryouts

C-bob and I went to check out the Lincoln Stormers baseball tryout today and it was great. At first we were just going to go watch, but the guy in charge, Rick, said we might as well just tryout. We did infield grounder, outfield fly and long throw, and hitting. I feel like I did best with the outfield part and I was amazed at how far I can actually throw. My accuracy is a lot better than I thought too. I'm so glad I went because now I know what it is I need to work on before the 7th. Hitting could have gone a lot better, but I can get that with time. We had to do bunting and I've never done that before so that was interesting. I couldn't hit anything but I haven't had much practice with live pitching yet. That's going to change.

I'm going in to ST tomorrow to have my 6th half hour lesson and then discuss what we can do between now and the 7th. I want to work a lot on seeing live pitching and on fielding. I'm going to talk to them about pitching too. I really think I can pitch if someone just showed me how. Then it'll be practice practice practice till I want to die and then practice some more.

I came out of the tryout thing more hyper than I have been in a long time. Rick made it sound like, unless a ton of people come on the 7th, if we pay the registration fee we will be drafted by some team. I love baseball. :)

Paperwork

So I went in this morning and got all my paperwork done for my new job. Well, all except the benefits stuff but I need to look through the packet and figure out what I want to enroll with. I will have time to do that this weekend. I'm pretty excited to be starting the new job. I got introduced to some people today and they showed me how to get to my new office, which was nice. I'm to show up there at 8AM on Tuesday.

The woman helping me with my paperwork was really cool and she was happy that most of my information was still in the SAP database. That makes life a lot easier for everyone. I also already have a lotus notes account and all that, so it's just a matter of making a few adjustments and there we go! I'm such a job haver.

I'm also tired, but at least this weekend gives me a chance to get back into a "normal" sleeping schedule since I will have to get out of here early enough to get parking. At my old job I went in at 7:30 and never had a problem parking so this should prove to be interesting.

Here's to the job havers! And good luck to any of you that are still looking.

Wow, I get to work in a library, how awesome is that??

JOB!

I got that job at UNL! They called me this morning and I start on Tuesday. Woot! Give it up for me!! ("did he just say give it up for me?")

Well I guess this is my last "free" week and weekend. Well since I'm house sitting I have no excuse but to lay around and do nothing. Not such bad news to be woken up to. The puppies were getting restless anyway.

Wooooooo... money.

Ah Behold the Internet

So I'm starting my first evening at the house sitting gig. Sheri and Tony have already gone to bed cuz they are getting up at 4:30 AM to make an early flight out of Omaha. I came the night before as to not sneak attack on the dogs tomorrow. Anyway, I may never want to leave. Internet, cable, food, etc... this should be a fun weekend. So much space too, I wish I had a house. Houses are cool.

I was gonna write more but I lost my train of thought. I think I was going to talk about how I can be anywhere but still feel at home, as long as there is Internet access. Is that sad or not? I'm really not sure.

License Plates

I saw a lot of personalized license plates today and I'm not sure if there is anything significant in that. I kind of doubt it, but I saw enough of them that it warranted commenting on. Most of them were things like "Kimmie Pie" or "Trixie" and it just made me recall a time when I thought I really wanted personalized plates. I no longer have that interest though, because who wants to go around town being known as Kimmie Pie that drives that oddly green colored VW bug?

Nothing else to comment on. My lesson was rescheduled for next Wednesday, and I guess that's fine. I have to remember to work on stuff and all that in the mean time. Since I'm going to be house sitting starting tomorrow night through Sunday night, if you need to get a hold of me and I'm not online, try my cell phone. (If you need the number, you have to ask me.) Most of you won't even notice any difference as I should still be online about like normal.

Well I'm gonna find something else to do besides worship the computer monitor. Up, up and away! (woo)

Quick Note

Got an email from UNL saying that it was going to take another week before they would know about the job. They had some issues and haven't even completed doing interviews yet.

Went to dinner with my parents, my brother and his new female friend. She's from the Boston area and she seemed pretty nice. I know she manages a Footlocker, so that's pretty cool. We ate at Fireworks in the Haymarket and it was good.

My hitting lesson for Wednesday was canceled and I have to call to reschedule but I'm not sure yet when I want to do it. For me it would work best if it were either tomorrow or after the house sitting thing. I really don't want to go tomorrow (I do, but at the same time, I don't) so I'll probably see about next Monday. Mondays aren't so bad really. Part of the reason I don't want to go tomorrow is that it'll be my last lesson for awhile, pending job status, so it'll be sad. I'm torn because I really do want to go again. Who knows, guess I'll figure it out tomorrow. :)

Sunday

Sunday is laundry day in my world and laundry was done and it was good. I went to my parents and watched some TV and did the aforementioned laundry. I also stopped over and Sheri and Tony's so they could give me a key and show me the ropes of taking care of the dogs. Did I mention I am house sitting this coming weekend while they are in Arizona? It should be pretty sweet since I get to watch cable TV, play video games and hang out with the dogs. Sometimes it's nice to have a change of pace, even if it is only across town. I might even be able to work on some of my writing there, which will be nice.

I saw a job listing in the paper today that interested me. I think I'm going to call the number tomorrow and get some more information. It was for desktop publishing and it said it was for someone willing to learn. The company was the Nebraska Printing Company which apparently isn't even that far from here. I figure it's not a bad idea to keep my options open in case the UNL job doesn't pan out.

Well, that's all from me. *waves*
