Softball!

C-bob and I went to see the Huskers play softball today at Bowlin Field, which is in the same Haymarket complex that the Saltdogs play at. The baseball field itself is actually called Hawks Field so together the two fields form the Haymarket Park complex. It's been awhile since I've watched softball and having been used to watching baseball you can really see the deference. The major difference are the size of the ball and the size of the field. The playing field is a lot smaller in softball and to me that makes it more intense. The pitchers can still pitch really fast but they are a lot closer, so it seems even faster. We sat right behind home plate, near the front, and it was pretty sweet. The weather was a bit chilly though and we were in the shade the whole time.

Today is also a home football game so by getting to the field before 3 we were able to park for free. If you wanted to stay for the games after 3 though you had to pay for a $10 parking pass. They use that lot for football parking and they really want their money. Also, the Penn State fans had a planned pep rally using Haymarket Park so a lot of the people parked there were Penn State fans.

I took some pictures at the game but they still need editing with photoshop, which is not on this computer. I will figure out a way to post those later, but I didn't want to leave you photoless. Here is a picture of this crazy limo we saw driving to the softball game. On the back, please note the goal posts. It also had some kind of gold glinter to it.

Out.. side?

I was a bit confused by it all, but I ventured outside this evening to play a bit of catch with C-bob. I took my camera along and played around with it a bit. I didn't take too many shots and some of them just weren't that great. It was nice to be out in the fresh air and get a little bit of exercise. We are going to try and see the softball game tomorrow, but that all hinges on me waking up in time. I should probably force myself to bed now and turn on my alarm. I did pick one picture from the evening to post.

Later in the evening we made a quest like drive out to WalMart on Nebraska Highway and Really Far From Here Road. That's not the name of the street, I just don't know what it is, but I'm sure most of you picked up on that. It was strange because nothing odd happened. We went to preppie WalMart though and it was really empty of people. I didn't have the usually desire to flee the minute I stepped into the store. Didn't buy much, but now I have instant rice. Instant rice is pretty awesome stuff.

Two-fer Tuesday.. (on a Friday)

I just came to the conclusion that the Quarkstar Reviews section of the site has to go. I don't enjoy doing this part of the site mainly due to my lack of talent when it comes to writing reviews. I'm just not a critical enough person to do good reviews of anything. I pretty much like or don't like most things the same. I find myself trying to write reviews and coming up with nothing interesting to say about the item I am reviewing. That part will remain up until I get the design parts taken care of to switch it over to something I'd rather be doing. That could very well make space for the unnamed photoblogs future home, but I'm not quite sure yet. It was a nice idea, the reviews, but I just don't have it in me to maintain.

Caffeine

So over the course of the last three weeks I have become completely addicted to caffeine. This is not good my friends and I have to do something about it. I realized it was getting bad when over the last couple of days I would wake up with headaches, getting worse each morning and realizing that caffeine made them go away. I am going to slowly ween myself from the caffeine as best I can, it will be good for my health and good for my wallet in the long run anyway. I'm not going cold turkey but hopefully I can change the course and finally let go of this addiction.

On another note, I was searching the web this afternoon and came across an interesting site. It's called Picture of the Day and it's this artist in California that posts, well, daily pictures. You can go back and start from the beginning and see the progression and what not. Some of the pictures were more interesting than others, but I couldn't stop looking at them.

This made me think of a possible new project for myself. I'm thinking something along the lines of a photoblog or photo journal. I will probably start playing around with it soon and see what I can come up with. I have to try it out for a bit to see if the effort will be worth the outcome. What this means for my friends, you lucky guys, is that I will probably start carrying a camera with me nearly all the time and no one will be safe. Granted I won't post anything if you really don't want me to, but I'll probably make you feel guilty if you say no. Sorry, those are rules. :)

My biggest worry for this project is space with my web host. I have 100 MBs available, so I'm not too worried right now, but it's something I'd have to keep an eye on more than I do now. I'm only using 10 MBs as it is, so that's not too bad. I could opt for more storage space, but $14.95 a month is about all I can afford right now for web hosting. Maybe in the future, if the project works out well and I have some income, I can spend the money for more server space.

You know what I miss? Cookie Company Cookies. Those are the best cookies ever. My favorites are E.T. (chocolate cookie with peanut butter chips), Oatmeal and Toffee Nut. Those were the good old days and it's great that I have happy memories of my old job to go with the crappy ones. All and all, the good memories outweigh the bad, so I guess I win.

Oh and the column is going to be posted, I just have to get it finished up. It should be a pretty good one this week, but it needs extra time.

Peace!

Baseball Pictures!

These are pictures taken on my birthday this year. They were either taken by me or C-bob, I'm not sure who took which pictures. Enjoy!

Updates

Not much went on today. Went to Runza for dinner, but they gave me the wrong order. I went through the drive-thru and I'm pretty sure I got the food for the person behind me. I decided not to complain because it was more food than I ordered and something I was willing to eat, for the most part. The onion rings were donated to C-bob because I don't like onion rings very much. I can eat them from time to time but prefer to not eat them at all. Listened to Fargo-Moorhead beat Winnipeg in the second game of the Northern League finals. Hopefully Winnipeg can come back and win the next two games so it can go to the exciting fifth game. Championship games are a bit more exciting when they aren't a blow away. The next games are in Winnipeg, so they have a good chance of turning the course.

There have been storms on and off most of the day today. One hit at about 7:15 this morning, waking me from my restful sleep and annoying me to no end. I was really tired and having problems getting back to sleep so it left me in a foul mood for the rest of the morning. Overall, I'd have to say my current mood is about neutral.

I need to make a permanent blogs link page soon. I have been meaning to do this for quite some time but I keep forgetting to actually do it. There are some blogs that I read that I think deserve permanent links somewhere on my site.

On the sad side, my chat buddy Jax is having an extended period of off-line time forced on her. It's gonna be a bit odd not having her to chat with every night, but I understand the situation so I won't complain. Well, I won't complain too much. I guess this means I get to learn how to use snail mail again, this should be fun.

I realize the significance of today but I'm not sure yet how I want to handle it. It just doesn't feel like it's been 2 years, time really passes quickly.

Oh yeah..

I forgot to mention that I bought a new pillow today. They were on sale, 50% off, and I really needed a new one so I figured I'd just pick one up. Pillow buying is far more complicated than it should be. Two aisles full of different kinds of pillows, different prices and sizes. What I wanted was a pillow, just a simple pillow that I could use for sleeping. I have no idea how to purchase I pillow actually. I finally gave up and picked one that wasn't too pricey but not super cheap and I'm sure I'll be happy with it. They had natural and synthetic models. They had regular and king sized pillows. Then once you get that figured out, you have to decided what firmness to get or contour or whatever. Really, all I need is new, clean and soft. It was far more involved than I needed it to be. Also considering I never sleep any more, I'm not sure why I even bothered investing in it.

Free stuff..

I'm getting something free... I'm getting something free! For some reason I'm not going to say what, but I know others of you that are getting it too. Awesome, eh?

Went to ShopKo this afternoon and actually got pan lids, I'm so awesome. I also bought All-Star Baseball 2003 for gameboy because it was on clearance, a couple shirts that were on sale and some other junk. I need to get a job soon, I really like buying stuff.

No calls or anything today, but I can wait. I did get an email back from the Saltdog people with a list of past players, now I have to start doing the research. I think I will just attack each player research one at a time and get as much information as possible. Form these into files and then start with the next guy. There's only about 100 guys to research, woo.

I'm not really very good at ASB 2003 but at least it's not the slaughter fest that slugfest can be. I need to play that again sometime, it's a good game. I did end up going to sleep around 9AM and got up around 3PM. I watched some morning TV but then couldn't think of anything better to do, so I finally slept some.

Time for more batting practice I think. Baseball is life.

Bored with stealing candy from babies

RIAA is now suing children. Aren't they great?

Daily Linkage

Not sure how long this will last.. but another link for you guys.

Soda Play

I am tremendously bad at this and can't get my creatures to do anything but fall down, sometimes faster than other times, but all eventually just fall down. My lack of skills may be due to my lack of sleep. I believe I am going on, (counts), 21 hrs sans sleep. I don't think that's gonna last much longer.

Oh right..

I have a web blog to update!

Had a pretty uneventful afternoon for the most part. Got a call from Sheri around 3:45 asking what I was doing for dinner. At the time I didn't know, it was my mom's birthday so I was waiting to hear from her. Didn't end up doing anything with the fam tonight because my dad had to go into work at midnight. In fact, he could very well still be working. I guess they are doing some kind of bridge work on or by the interstate and have to do it at night and he was the lucky one to get the later shift.

So Sheri and I went to Fazoli's, where I had the twice baked ziti and more breadstix then I should have had. It's so hard to say no to free breadstix and they just keep bringing them! After that we hit Target where I got a few things I needed and some baseball cards. Baseball cards are so awesome, they truly are. I just love opening new packs of cards, searching through them and scratching my head at all the players I don't know. It's quite fun for me.

After Target we went to Best Buy for a little bit, but didn't end up buying anything. I want to get a new gameboy game but they didn't have any that I really wanted. I might go look at ShopKo tomorrow, if I go anywhere. I did get some cleaning done but I have a bit more to do it seems.

Later I went over to HyVee and shopped with the other freaks and night owls. Most people were buying cigs and booze. Seems to be what you buy close to midnight I guess. I got bread and frozen pizza, among other things, so I'm set for a bit now, I hope. I have to remember to look for some kind of universal pan lid, since I don't have one and my method of using a cookie sheet really isn't that great. Maybe I'll remember to look for that at ShopKo tomorrow, if I end up going.

I really hope I get a call back from iUniverse soon, I'd really like to get that job and I know I'd be good at it. I'm pretty good at any job I take on, even ones that I don't like, so it would be nice to have a new challenge and this job just sounds pretty awesome.

Well there you go kids, some nice reading for your enjoyment. Be safe, have fun, send money... please?

Hello again

I got a lot of sleep tonight, so one would think I would be well rested, right? Nope, still tired, but I'm gonna force myself to get some stuff done today. I think I'm allergic to something and it's hitting me again. *shrug* Whatever it is, I hope it goes away soon.

I need to clean today and maybe go to the grocery store. Maybe later I'll play some video games or something, not sure yet.

So I think one of the reasons I want to get a job again is that I miss the human interaction. There comes a point where I feel like I've spent way too much time alone with myself. Frankly, I'm starting to annoy myself. ;) That and a job would at least give me reference points to the day. Right now it doesn't really matter how long I sleep, when I get up, what I do, etc. I guess I need that feeling of mattering in my life. Hopefully I will hear back from some place soon enough and everything will work out for the best.

Ah-choo

Sneezing is evil.

I was playing MLB Slugfest earlier and it was just making me mad. I was playing against the x-box and it seems unfair that the x-box seems to make perfect fielding moves while my guys run around like complete idiots. Granted, the first game I had the difficulty set to pro, be even when it was set to trainee, they seemed unfairly good at fielding. The game is a lot more fun two player, that's for sure.

Well, gonna go watch a movie, be good kids.

A Link

I was having fun with this so I thought I would share...

Crazy Carrara

Enjoy.

It's Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!!

Good morning fellow web users and welcome to another wonderful installment of GopherDylan's mad capped adventures.

Ok, so actually not much to report still. I'm awake and probably going to eat at some point this morning. Going to go do laundry too which is my big plan for the day. I should do some cleaning at some point, but I'll figure out when later, I don't feel like doing it now.

So how are all you fine people doing?

Enough from me, blog at you later!
