Hey all..

Nothing much to report from my life right now. Friday was my last day full-time and it was ripe with arguing and stress, so overall, an interesting way to go out. Monday morning I start my new career of doing nothing but still getting paid. Not a bad gig really, but that's only for 5 weeks. Who knows what the future will bring.

Got to go out and buy some new jeans today and I want to go to Barnes and look at magazines so I'll probably do that too. Going to Sheri and Tony's tonight, that should be fun.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

UPDATE!!!!!

Alright, the much anticipated update is now here...

I will break it down into nice little sections for your enjoyment:

Work: Tomorrow is my last official day working full time as the Help Desk Manager, so what will I be doing after that? Well it turns out that I am going to be going back to my roots and working in the computer lab for 5 weeks. I am going to work 8-12:30ish every day at a pretty good payrate for what I will be doing. I guess I consider it payback for all the work I did feeling totally underpaid. So what am I going to be doing? I am going to sit on the computer all morning, play games and what not, and monitor the computer lab. Basically I am going to be punching print cards and sometimes helping students. It should be alright and I still have my afternoons off.

Guster: Last night C-bob and I ventured up to Omaha to see Guster in concert at Sokol Hall. The opening band was New Amsterdams from Lawrence, KS (great town, btw). They were pretty good, I had not heard them before (unless you count the ride up to Omaha) so I didn't know their songs well, but they seem pretty cool. I had a great time at the concert. Guster played a tight show and the crowd was pretty good, at least from my perspective. I spent the whole night standing by the stage, which is an interesting point of view really. I told C-bob I should have brought a camera so I could start a collection of pictures looking up people's noses. Who knows, it sounded good at the time. After we got back to Lincoln, we stopped for tacos, I do like the tacos.

Thursday(today): Today was not a good day, more like one of those bad days from hell that everyone seems to get from time to time. Work was just crazy, we were way understaffed being I was the only technical support person in the building from 8 to 9:30, so I was running the Help Desk and the Computer Lab at the same time. I had someone walk in with a laptop running Korean Win2k who needed his network drives mapped, people lined up to print, a student needing help with Publisher and the phone kept ringing. I also had to help set up the technical aspects for a video conference on Monday between to systems that don't seem to want to communicate with each other. We figured out a good work around and hopefully it will work out fine on Monday. And do to a freak accident, my cell phone no longer functions, I tried to get it replaced but they told me we would have to pay for a new one, which was really confusing to me. Ah well, I made it through the day and even didn't totally suck at pool over lunch, I can finally start hitting some stuff in. Pool is fun once you start actually being able to play.

My Evening: After the last week of business, added with the overall stress of the day, I decided to just chill for the evening. I watched the movie Slacker, took a couple videos back to Hollywood Video, filled my gas tank, grabbed a slushie and headed to my bro's. I am house sitting for him, which is pretty awesome considering he has a sweet home theater type system in the basement and a wireless network. I've been watching TV and plan to watch a movie or two before I head home.

Well, there you go... you are all in the know now.

*Yawn*

Well I'm awake and I don't want to be. Gonna go to work here in a couple minutes, sit around in the computer lab and glare at people, or such is my plan. I really had this day planned out to sleep in a bit and work from home, but I'm a nice person and decided to not ditch Joey all alone. I am going to try my best to get away early, Guster is tonight and I have a few things I have to get done before we go. Plus, I am probably going to want to grab a quick nap, I like naps.

Baseball and Slushie

After work Joey and I went to see Skippy in the hospital, he is doing well but he was pretty drugged up. Looks like they let him come home tonight after all, so that's good to see.

Then I ran a couple errands, ate a quick dinner and C-bob and I went to the Saltdogs game. It was cool, they were tied up 2-2 and had to go into a 10th inning. The salt doggies finally pulled it off and won, it was awesome. After the game, we wandered to the gas station because I had this urgent need for a slushie. I had a lemonade one and it was good.

Now I am tired and have to get to bed soon, since I have to go in to work tomorrow after all, oh well.

Worrrrk...

Apparently my last week here has to be stressfilled and hectic. I am currently sitting in the computer lab watching to make sure nothing gets stolen, occasionally releasing prints for people and cutting open package after package of pad locks. Woo.

Among the many things that have happened already today, had to do a video conference setup test this morning and 10 minutes before it was to start, I get an email from the remote site: "Oh, by the way, we use Net Meeting, hope this won't be a problem." *sigh* Yea, it kind of is a problem since Net Meeting only communicates with Net Meeting and not our uber expensive Polycom Viewstation system we have set up. I was able to get net meeting fired up on that computer in our conference room, but it will only be one way, us receiving, them sending since our cameras and microphone are on a different system. I think I may have figured out a way for our end to at least talk to their end, but we have to do another test run at this on Thursday.

Also, one of our workers called in this morning and said he quit, effective today. He only had to get through the rest of this week, but due to personal problems, can no longer afford to work here. So that leaves us extremely short handed for the rest of the week, what with Skippy out on sick leave. Not going to be working from home tomorrow, that's for sure.

Oh well, there are locks to be opened and people to stare at. Peace.

End is near...

I'm getting ready to leave for work, something I may only do two more times, depending on what I do tomorrow. I think I will again attempt working at home tomorrow, it's just easier that way. While I know this is what I need to do, and I am truly excited about it, it's still bittersweet. It's hard to leave anything that you invested yourself in over time, but sometimes things just have a natural ending, jobs tend to be like that. Where I am going next, I really don't know, but it will be an interesting journey. That's my new word, interesting, it seems to sum up a lot of things.

Interesting.

Monday Funday

Got up around 9 today and lounged around for a bit. Got a call from Susan at around 11:00ish and she came to get me so we could get lunch. Ended up dropping off a laptop and food for Joey at CBA before we ran around for a bit. We ate at Friday's after she took me to buy my Guster ticket for the show Wednesday. Then we stopped at her place, picked up trivial pursuit and decided to rent some movies at Blockbuster. We spent the rest of the afternoon playing Trivial Pursuit, watching movies, eating candy and drinking LiveWire, it was a lot of fun.

Poor Nate had his appendix removed this morning, it was a pretty sudden thing. Hope you feel better soon Skippy! He's gonna be outta commission for another week, so looks like me and him won't work together again, most likely. Kinda sad really, but that's how it works out.

Not much else going on, needed to get milk and other groceries, but I didn't really feel like going to the store. Tomorrow or some other day. Who knows. Peace!

Time

I really don't have much to blog about but for some reason felt that I should leave some kind of message. Today is my laundry day and I have to get going on that soon. Laundry has never struck me as an overly exciting thing to post about. Everyone has to do it, unless you are so rich that you either a) have someone else do it for you or b) you just buy new clothes and throw the dirty ones away.

There is something strange about 4 day weekends, they seem great in theory, but then they just get confusing. You stop remembering what day it is and your sleep and wake schedule try to reset to what would be normal for you. I'm pretty convinced that I am nocturnal. It will be interesting to see what happens starting next week, when I am no longer working and can sleep and wake up whenever I want. I will keep you all posted, because apparently I think that should be of complete interest to all of you.

Well, that laundry isn't going to do itself you know. I hope everyone has a withstandable day!
