Saltdogs
Tonight C-Bob and I ventured out to see the Lincoln Saltdogs play in Haymarket park. The game was pretty close until near the end. The dogs pulled off a 4-1 win, breaking their losing streak. I always like going to the game and seeing them win.
Tonight was also "Battle of the Mascots" night. Many of the local businesses turned out with their costumed mascots to take on Homer in some fun little games and what not. A run down of some of the mascots:
HyVee - "Red the Down Arrow" - supposed to show their always falling prices, but overall, really lame costume.
Runza - "Runza Rex" - an inflated giant dinosaur, a T-Rex.
U.S. Bank (or some other bank) - A walking ATM, a clever idea, and really not all that bad.
Bowling Alley (not sure which one) - inflated giant pin and bowling ball, not bad, but a little lame.
There were a few others, but I don't really remember what they are, but there is a last mascot that deserves special mention.
T.O. Haas Tires - The Michelin Man - I'm sure most people know what I am referring to here. Why this one deserves special notice is what happened to the poor guy wearing the suit. They were doing this fun little contest with some kids, where two mascots did a human wheelbarrow race with the kids. The M.M. guys kid kind of fell near the end, which caused him to lose balance in his mascot suit and head dive and roll on the baseline. He was stunned for a bit, but got up and immediately went over to the dugout and threw off the costume. He had majorly smashed his head into the ground and was not looking well. The trainers came over and finally the red cross guy came down. Eventually they moved him from the dugout and into the stands, where he sat with ice on his head for awhile. Near the end of the game, I noticed they had moved him onto a strechter and I assume took him away in an ambulance. Not a fun night for that guy.
On a totally different note, Chino went to the hospital today but word is that he's going to be OK. Feel better dude!
