Learnin'
I learned something about air conditioners tonight, thanks to the friendly maintenance man. It turns out that if you install a new air conditioning unit, it's a good idea to punch out the hole where the water drains into the drainage pipe. What happens if you don't? The drain pan fills up and spills all over the place, down into the furnace area below and out on to the carpeting. The guy that came to fix it thought it was just blocked at first, until he realized the installers just didn't do a complete job.
I only figured this out while I was cleaning this afternoon. Went to move the rug in the hallway and found it was wet. At first I thought I spilled something, but no, the water as coming from the wall. Oh well, the damage is minimal and it was a pretty cheap rug anyway. Good to see the apartment owners are quick to respond, he got the whole punched in and the AC back up and running quickly. Much props for that.
Peace.
